Awards & Honors

The purpose of the Costas Soukoulis Award is to recognize an outstanding early‑career researcher for the exceptional quality of their scientific work in the field of Optics and Photonics, as well as for their clear potential for future development and scientific leadership.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Completion of a PhD degree.
  • Graduation from at least one level of education in Greece, or a minimum of 2 years of employment in a Greek Research Institution.
  • Must have been awarded his/her PhD degree at least 3 years and no more than 10 years before the application deadline. An extension of this timeframe can be provided in cases of parental leave, military service, serious illness, or other justified cause.
  • Number of publications.
  • Quality of journals.
  • Contribution to society.
  • Research trajectory following PhD completion.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Completed submission template (Click to download in docx)
  • Full publication list.
  • Proof of PhD completion date.
  • Two letters of recommendation.

Interested applicants may submit their application by sending all required documents to info@phos-society.gr  by 10 September 2026.

The winner will be announced during the closing ceremony of the 2nd International Conference of the Panhellenic Optical Society (PHOS), which will take place on 1–3 October 2026 at the premises of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Thessaloniki.

The award also includes a monetary prize of €1,000.00.
