Distinguished & Honorary

Honorary membership:

Honorary Membership is awarded to those who have made unique, seminal contributions to the field of optics and photonics, or to distinguished professionals and academics who are recognized for their support and commitment to the mission of PHOS society. Honorary Members receive a complimentary lifetime membership and other special recognitions of their distinguished status.

The process for becoming a honorary member includes:

  • A nomination letter signed by at least 3 PHOS members (self-nomination is not allowed), which describes the main achievements of the nominee and the justification on why he/she should be elevated to the degree of honorary member.
  • The nomination letter has to be emailed or mailed to the Board and the Board makes a decision
  • This decision has to be validated by the PHOS General Assembly
